Conservation
What is meant by conservation in respect to investigations?
Conservation in general means to protect natural resources. Investigations are one way to ensure the environment, plants, animals and their habitats are protected.
The social movement over the past several years brought attention to the need to preserve our resources. However, there is still a long way to go.
Looking back at recent man-made environmental catastrophes revealed that they could have been prevented. Short-cuts were taken to save money – neglecting safety, oversight, and enforcement. Additionally, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) reports that many environmental crimes are related to organized crime groups. When there is money to be made, concerns for the environment, plants and wildlife is not the priority.
So how can the average citizen help? Being observant and report what you see is one way to fight back.
You witness illegal dumping, toxins being filtered into local waters, illegal hunting, fishing or lumbering. You report this to the designated government agency but no action is taken. Or it may be that you want to report your concern but do not want to contact federal agencies.
Give CORIE a call. CORIE investigators are passionate about environment and wildlife preservation and will take whatever action necessary to make sure reports are investigated and brought to the attention of the appropriate agency. Investigators will also conduct independent investigations when necessary.
